Today we filed a grievance over the new galley and service
guidelines for the CRJ 700 aircraft.
Our contract requires the airline to notify AFA before
implementing either a new galley configuration as well as a major change in
service. On page 113 (Section 26F)
of the contract (BLUE BOOK) it states “The Company shall notify the MEC
President or her/his designee, before implementing a major change in service or
galley configuration.”
The ASA AFA MEC is disappointed that the airline did not
provide us with time to review their plans and add input of the people who work
in these galleys and provide the for the service onboard.
The airline has had a focus group to try and problem solve
the issues we all find in the new set up.
We are still waiting what they plan to do so we can serve our customers
safely and within the guidelines our mainline partner wants.
We will keep you updated of any outcome. Please continue to provide copies of
RIFs and email us with problems you may encounter. If you experience an OJI due to the new first class cart configuration
(reaching behind drawers, pulling drawers out, having to pull cart out to
access supplies, etc) please notify AFA as soon as you can.
Until we resolve this issue make certain to take care of
yourself, report accidents and service problems, and if you must alter any
cabin service due to the galley supplies or configuration make sure to make the
appropriate PAs.
You may reach either of your officers at their emails
below. We cannot respond to
replies to this msg.
